Sixth Form

The pinnacle of school education

It is unusual for such a young school to have such a thriving Sixth Form, but such has been the fortune at Shrewsbury, with a group of students possessing considerable academic ability and high personal aspirations.

The Sixth Form is highly favoured, having well appointed, expansive facilities. The Common Room has panoramic views over the Chao Phraya River and the Study Area is fitted with individual work stations and a Higher Education and Careers Library to support university applications.

Our aim is to help students to prepare for the world beyond school; to encourage them to take greater responsibility for their academic progress, for themselves, and for others in the school. The Sixth Form, acting as school prefects, is instrumental in setting the standard for other pupils. The students play an important role, representing the school at a variety of functions and events, as well as monitoring and guiding the younger pupils.

All Sixth Form students have a Personal Tutor whose responsibility it is to monitor, guide, encourage and support them through the demands of the AS and A level course.

Teaching groups are small, allowing time to ensure that each individual student is supported when necessary, and academically stretched to their full potential. All students entering the Sixth Form equip themselves with a laptop. Increasing use of these in lessons has enhanced and expanded the range of resources to which they have access.

Sixth Form students are heavily involved in school sports and school musical events, and have benefited from weekend outdoor pursuits programmes. In the future, more extensive expeditions are planned to enhance their experiences and pave the way to higher education and the world of work.
