"Navigating the path to the future"

The department plays an important role in preparing students for their time beyond school, and in supporting their university applications.

The Higher Education and Careers Library is currently situated in the Sixth Form Study area and contains information about careers, sponsorships, the Gap Year and Higher Education opportunities in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand. Text resources (books, magazines and university prospectuses), VCDs, and computer software are available for use in or outside this area.

At present, the emphasis is placed on supporting years 12 and 13 in their efforts to gain places on university courses in Thailand or overseas. Currently, all of our year 13 students are seeking university acceptance in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Singapore or Thailand.

In addition to Higher Education Fairs and Exhibitions that take place regularly in Bangkok, the school plays host to a number of representatives, particularly from universities in the UK, and has recently been visited by the universities of Birmingham, Aston, Bath, the London School of Economics, University College London, London Imperial and King's College London.

Students are given close assistance in making university choices, completing application forms and, when necessary, practice interviews. Assistance in gaining relevant work experience is also offered.

In Year 9, support is available when making IGCSE choices, and, in Year 11, similar support is provided with respect to the important decisions relating to the choice of AS/A levels. Plans are advancing to introduce psychometric tests and interest questionnaires to aid year 11 in this choice, and the ECCTIS database will shortly be made available to the Sixth Form to assist university choice. There are also plans to open a purpose-designed Careers Library specifically for students in years 10 and 11.
