Pre-Prep
The Key Stage 1 section of the Pre-Prep Department encompasses Year 1 and 2 children. Every class has a maximum of 18 pupils, and has a teacher and assistant teacher to lead the children in their learning. Our aim is to create a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment where both academic and social aspects of a child's development are cared for.
The children have large purpose built classrooms situated in the upper level of the Pre-Prep building. The two year groups are joined together by a large carpeted area which is used for assemblies, drama work, reading and circle time. Also on this floor are a purpose built IT suite and a fantastic Art/DT room which has a fully fitted home economics area, built at child's height, for our regular cookery sessions.
The curriculum is based on the British National Curriculum with adaptations for our international make-up. The children study Maths, English, Science, History, Geography, Art, Personal Social Health Education and Design Technology. They also benefit from specialist lessons in ICT (2 per week); Music (1 per week); swimming (1 per week); Thai (2 per week) and PE (2 per week). We also use the school library on a regular basis.
Careful planning has ensured that our pupils are fully prepared for their transition into the Prep Department's Year 3. In addition to their academic studies, children are encouraged to participate in our after school Extra Curriculum Activities (You Time!) programme, where a host of sporting, artistic and musical activities are offered to enrich the children's learning experience.
