Our objective:

Our school aims to strengthen its students with a sense of the responsibility that comes with an education at Shrewsbury International School; we aim to encourage ethical integrity, environmental awareness and compassion, and the purposefulness to act to promote these values.

Our students:

1. 1.are given opportunities to lead commensurate with their age and experience;
   

2. 2.have their responsibilities reinforced in classroom lessons, PHSE, assemblies and “You-Time!” and are provided with plentiful opportunities to act in support of these values;
   

3. 3.are helped to understand the school’s charitable philosophy and actions and encouraged to participate fully in the work of the Charity Committee;
   

4. 4.contribute to the well-being of the community in which the school operates.
   

Our teachers:

1. 1.take opportunities in their classroom lessons and in their planning and preparation to make students aware of their responsibilities;
   

2. 2.promote discussion of ethics, integrity, the environment and giving;
   

3. 3.promote these values in the way in which they support the school’s extra-curricular and charitable programmes;
   

4. 4.seek to forge strong links with the local community.
   

Our parents:

1. 1.encourage their children to see school in its full breadth;
   

2. 2.support the school activities which promote the charitable dimension of the school;
   

3. 3.support through discussion and action an approach to life which has integrity and responsibility at its heart;
   

4. 4.help their children understand how their family life promotes environmental awareness.
   

Our measurements:

1. 1.A report on the Carbon Footprint and Environmental Health of the school (including targets) is presented annually to The Board of Governors by The Director of Business Services;
   

2. 2.A report on the Charitable Contribution of the school is presented annually to The Board of Governors by The Chairman of the Charity Committee;
   

3. 3.The Performance Management System will encourage teachers to promote ethical integrity, environmental awareness and compassion in delivery of lessons, planning and preparation and “You-Time!” activities.
