shrewsbury international school
Our students are....
....Truly International
Our objective:
Shrewsbury International School aims to promote a tolerant and appreciative view of others who see things differently, and aims to grant students knowledge of world religions, belief systems and cultural diversity. We aim to use the internationalism of the student body and our placement at the hub of Asian travel to our advantage and to develop a problem-solving approach which recognises the interconnectedness of the modern world.
Our students:
1.understand that Shrewsbury encourages tolerance, understanding of others and integration of all students – and everyone has a full part to play in this;
2.encounter opportunities in the classroom across a range of subjects to understand more about those who see things differently;
3.encounter a curriculum which is planned to acknowledge the internationalism of the school;
4.are encouraged in their “You-Time!” activities to develop an appreciation of different religions and their celebrations, belief systems and cultural diversity;
5.are encouraged to participate in school assemblies and projects which reinforce their understanding of world events and cultural diversity.
Our teachers:
1.understand that Shrewsbury encourages tolerance, understanding of others and integration of all students - and then support these values;
2.understand their responsibility as international teachers and seek constantly to develop worldmindedness in their approach;
3.seek to plan the curriculum with constant reference to the cultural and national diversity of their classes;
4.are highly aware of the educational and pastoral issues that emerge in a diverse school and develop strategies to use this diversity to their benefit;
5.plan public events and performances (such as assemblies and shows) with the internationalism of the school in mind and work with their students to help foster an awareness of key global themes;
6.will take opportunities to involve students in academic, sporting and cultural activities and competitions on an international footing which actively promote an understanding of cultural diversity and interconnectedness in problem solving.
Our parents:
1.understand Shrewsbury encourages tolerance, understanding of others and integration of all students - and then support these values;
2.play a lead role in events at school which actively promote its diversity;
3.help to reinforce the appreciation of world events and cultural diversity at home through reading, discussion and debate;
4.take opportunities to in their travel and vacations to expose their children to world history, geography and culture.

3.The Principal and School Leaders will promote International Day as a catalyst for the global perspective of the school and provide a report to The Board of Governors on its objectives, success and future targets.
