Pastoral Care

The contributions made by every member of the Shrewsbury community should not, indeed cannot, be underestimated.

Academically, pupils are stretched to meet their potential through our varied and challenging curricula whilst simultaneously we seek to create a community which mutually develops respect for self and others. Actions have consequences and pupils are encouraged to recognise their responsibility across all aspects of school life. We recognise the need to develop as a considerate, caring community eager to encourage individuality and to embrace cultural diversity.

Each pupil in the Senior School is placed in a Form Group. The relationship which develops with their Form Tutor is a critical one. The Form Tutor; monitors individual achievement and discipline; provides support and direction; and operates as a mentor, encouraging and providing many strategies designed to assist the pupils, for example, with organisation and study skills.

A Pastoral Coordinator leads each Year Group, providing support and guidance for staff and pupils. They oversee the design and delivery of the programme of PSHE (Personal, Social and Health Education), work with the Senior Management Team to establish policy and to monitor delivery, promote a school which meets pupils' needs and provide a vital point of communication between home and school.
