Excellence Programmes

Shrewsbury International School strives for excellence in all areas of school life.  It was decided that as a result of the exceptional talent of our Shrewsbury students that the after school programme would have a specific focus on the excellence activities in Sport, Music, the Arts, MUN and IYA.  The students who are selected to participate in these areas of school life are coached, taught and directed by our specialist staff in their chosen activities and their talents are fostered and nurtured and developed over the course of the students life. It is clear that we have some of the most exceptional students at Shrewsbury, not just academically, but in Music, Sport and Drama and it was felt that a specific programme should be undertaken to develop these students in order for them to reach their potential.

Last year we had over 300 students participating in excellence activities during 2008-2009 and with the addition of the new “You-Time!” Programme we are leading the way in a new and innovative after school activity programme in Asia.

Hopefully their involvement in these activities will be the stepping stones to move on to more ambitious levels and give them the initial foundations of enthusiasm and excitement to excel next year.

At the end of each academic year students are invited to the prestigious Excellence Awards Dinner which celebrates the successes of our students in the different excellence arenas at Shrewsbury. The awards dinner is a way of celebrating and acknowledging our students dedication, hard work and commitment to the excellence programmes.
